About the IT-Label
The independent standard that provides insight into the digital quality, performance and IT delivery level of commercial real estate. Where an energy label assesses energy performance, the IT-Label shows how digitally ready a building is. Read more.
No. The IT-Label is a voluntary standard. Its value lies in the fact that a building with a label can demonstrably do what a building without a label can only claim.
In what it measures. The energy label assesses energy performance across seven levels from A to G; the IT-Label assesses digital infrastructure across six levels from IT1+ to IT5. And unlike the energy label, the IT-Label is not legally required.
No, and that's a deliberate choice. An IT1+ PREMIUM building is not automatically better than an IT5 SHELL building: each delivery level suits a different target group. The label makes transparent what is being offered, and does not judge.
About the audit and the certificate
An independent certified partner, who works according to the IT-Label methodology. As a result, a classification in Rotterdam means the same as in Groningen.
Two years. That's deliberately short: digital infrastructure ages faster than a building. After changes or upgrades, recertification may take place.
No. The IT-Label has no rejection. Every building receives a classification that describes its delivery level, even if that is shell.
No. Besides the presence of provisions, it also assesses whether they actually function, are reliable and are scalable. A building with fibre optic on paper but disappointing throughput in practice scores according to that practice.
Yes. Certified buildings can be looked up by address via find your IT-Label.
About the classifications and responsibilities
The commercial names were sharpened to better describe what a level means: IT1 HIGH PERFORMANCE and IT2 PLUG & PLAY. The tiers themselves haven't changed, and old links still work: they redirect automatically.
Mainly integration and redundancy. At IT1+ PREMIUM, the digital ecosystem is fully integrated and built with redundancy; at IT1 HIGH PERFORMANCE, the infrastructure is high-quality but limited optimisations are still desirable.
The IT-Label does not determine that: it shows which facilities are present and at what level they are delivered. The division between tenant and landlord can differ per building and lease agreement and is recorded in the IT Demarcation List. Read more about responsibilities.
No. The IT-Label assesses only the delivery level of the real estate. If you install additional provisions yourself or own a complete fit-out package, responsibility for that lies with you, not the landlord.
Not necessarily. The label attracts the tenant who fits your proposition. Tenants with their own standards actually look for shell space, because they don't want to pay for provisions they will replace anyway.
